About

Nowseum is a speculative museum of now. Nowseum is fugitive and elusive, simultaneously museum and anti-museum. It uses museological methods of collecting, documenting and displaying for researching what is going on around us. It intervenes in public spaces by curating them anew or interrupting existing narratives with shifts and disorientations that enable speculating and fantasising about alternative worlds. Nowseum approaches exhibition making not as a linear process leading from researching to writing up and designing displays. Instead, its exhibition work is a messy practice that mixes up these stages. Nowseum seeks a practice that gives rise to multiple vantage points, diverse forms of knowledge production and collective authorship.

Nowseum was founded by Melanie Boehi. It initially functioned as a blog and in 2016 shifted focus to offline interventions which continue to be documented online.
